Final reflection

I spent most of last night until the early hours of this morning tweaking and polishing my website. I've added the two video links from YouTube, which took me a few hours as I'd never before even looked at YouTube-that was something my children do- let alone link it to a website I'd created. I feel a little like the 'proud peacock' and at every opportunity I show off my site to my doubting teenagers. I've also changed some of the font sizes to make the headings stand out and I thought I'd link the font colour with the lovely orange flower on my home page. All of these pages have taken me a day or two (if I'm honest more!) to set up. I found at the beginning I had very specific ideas on what I wanted but sadly my technological skills weren't up to the task. But I have learnt so much by doing this assisgnment, the discussion board and in particular the Skype chat were invaluable tools allowing me (especially with Skype chat) to get an instant response from people in a similar situation.
A learning moment for me was when Jenni made the comment "the internet is not a copyright-free zone" I'd never thought about that before, she then introduced us to Creative Commons which I used to find an image. I'll take from this unit the value of authentic learning- to be able to learn by doing- to be a self-learner.It has given me 'food for thought' on what I need to do to assist students with their learning- provide opporturnities like this to learn by doing, making mistakes and learning from them.
I believe I've finished and hopefully you'll enjoy my site as much as I've enjoyed making it.
