I'm afraid I haven't contributed to my blog this week as I've been unwell. Hopefully now I'm on the mend and can catch up with some of my blog entries. Firstly,at the beginning of the week I was asked by a friend of mine, who teaches in a Northern suburb school, if I'd like to have a play around with a new piece of technology her school is trialling. The 'smart table' is an interactive table that multiple users can access at the same time. I have googled it and have already thought of how you might incorporate it into a lesson. My first thought was to include it with Early Childhood, as it would allow a small group activity, for example, sorting to be used effectively. I also thought it could have applications that would be of benefit for children with special needs, particularly those children with challenges like muscular dystrophy or children who have difficulty with fine motor control. The 'smart table' is the size of a small coffee table which would allow plenty of room for another person to support a childs hand or arm during the activity. Another application I was thinking of, was to use a similar application that is used for the ipad called ' frog dissection'. This is could be used in year 7 science lessons, students could work in small groups allowing those that are 'squemish' to still participate. Here is the link to frog -dissection   http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/frog-dissection/id377626675?mt=8.
I hope you enjoy the link, I'll write about my learning experience with the smart table during the school holidays.
I have added a screen shot of the SMART table for people to view.

I would also like to include a link to the 'smart table demo' I found this on youtube -
