Skype group

I've been reflecting on how I can make the communication between the group members easier? As I said in my earlier blog I find it very frustrating when I have an idea I want to bounce off someone, it takes a few days for the replies to come back. So in a 'light bulb moment' I thought why don't we have a Skype group for our project, that way whenever we're on Skype we can see who else in the group is too. We can also utilise the file share option in Skype for the project. I've invited our tutor Dani into the group, that way he can choose to join in the chat at any time.
I read chapter 7 of 'Learning with technology' last night, it explains about using communication media in the classroom. I think it's a good 'learning tool' as long as it has a specific learning outcome/purpose. In 2008 a year 3 class (at the school I work a)t entered a podcast competition. The criteria was to send a message to the Australian Olympic team,- the class won the competition for Western Australia. From this example I can see the benefits of using communication technology in the classroom.
